Our Training Programme
Voices of Africa’s efforts have not gone unnoticed and as a result the organisation has been awarded with a BoB Award (Best Videoblog 2008), Webby Award (Official Honoree News category 2008), and most recently with a World Summit Award (e-Inclusion and Participation 2009).
The foundation uses professional training materials and mobile phone technology to train reporters to create objective news in the form of written and video reports.
To add value to the training Voices of Africa makes use of local professionals, online coaching and an interactive online training platform. In this virtual learning environment trainees can compare their output and learn from each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
Themes and topics are chosen in close collaboration with our partners and can include monitoring of an organisation’s activities in the field. An example is “Watch on Nature”, made in collaboration with WWF. Also have a look at the activities of a Kenyan women group that is supported by Voices of Africa Media Foundation: www.mamanusra.nl (in Dutch). A selection of the best reports is published on third party publication platforms, such as www.AfricaNews.com.
Over 700 video reports have been published by trainees on the foundation’s interactive training website www.VoicesofAfrica.com. We invite you to visit the site to watch the progress of our current trainees.
